life in Gaza is a constant gauntlet of Israeli sniper fire, military rockets and army bulldozers. No one is safe. In light of the escalating tensions, we’re bringing back one our most moving documentaries, a hard-hitting expose of life in the Occupied territories. We speak to the children caught in the crossfire and find out the true cost of Israel’s targeted assassinations policy.
A little boy screams in agony. There’s shrapnel in his eye, leg, stomach and feet. He was playing in the street outside his house when an Israeli helicopter fired missiles at the car of a Hamas member. Ten minutes later, the helicopter returned and fired two more bombs at the decimated car, spraying the surrounding district with sharp metal darts. Makmoud was just 1 of 47 people injured in the attack. Four others were killed.
The feeling in Gaza is that the West accepts this type of action. It doesn’t matter how much so called ‘collateral damage’ it causes. Whichever side kills last says it is a response to the one before. In the grim calculus of this conflict, around three Palestinians die for every Israeli killed. It’s an equation that keeps old hatreds fresh.
Israel’s hardline policy may only be aimed at militants but it’s the civilians who end up paying the price. 12 year old Huda Darwish was sitting in her classroom when a stray bullet from an Israeli sniper hit her. After three weeks in a coma, she is finally waking up. Her relatives’ joy quickly vanishes when they realise that the bullet has left her blind. The reality of her shattered life suddenly hits her. “I want to die. Why did this happen to me?” she asks. Her family have no answers.
We visit Huda’s school in Rafah to see how the accident could possibly have happened. The school is run by the United Nations on a big open site not easy to miss. But an Israeli military position is situated just 500 metres away. As we enter her classroom, a shell explodes nearby. The children flee terrified under their desks. One girl is so traumatised she is in a state of shock. Their teacher says that this happens all the time.
Almost every day, Israeli troops leave their base in Rafah to bulldoze Palestinian houses. “This is a combat area,” explains Colonel Pinky Zoaret. He says he needs to destroy the houses to deny the terrorists cover. But most of the houses belong to ordinary Palestinians. Thousands have lost their homes. And there’s no compensation for the dispossessed. “I can’t sleep,” confides resident Doctor Sameer. “I smoke about 40 to 50 cigarettes a night.” All his life savings are in his house but he knows he could lose it at any time.
Those who try and stop the violence can end up paying with their lives. Rachel Corrie was one of them. She brought the Palestinians’ plight to the world’s attention when she died, crushed by an Israeli bulldozer while trying to protect a building. The IDF maintain that she died because of her own irresponsible and illegal behaviour. But eye witnesses tell a different story. “The driver could clearly see she was there,” states her friend. “But instead of stopping, he continued forward.”
Months later, there are more high profile killings in Gaza. British photographer Tom Hurndall was shot trying to rescue a six year old girl who was stuck out in gunfire. Then cameraman James Miller was killed by Israeli fire. “James died because we trusted them to behave like a civilised army. We knew they could see that we weren’t armed and that we were carrying a white flag. We trusted them not to kill us under those circumstances and they shot James anyway,” states his colleague Saira Shah.
Gaza still remains a killing zone.

this video of course shows only one side in this terrible struggle between Israelis and Palastines.
Dead children and innocent people, Israelis or Muslims or Christians, are always horrible.
Who is responsible to this struggle? Hamas. they are the true terrorists, hiding behind innocent people of GAZA. Sending thousands of rockets on people of southern Israel.
try to imagine this situation in your country: Rockets are falling on you, Suicide Bombers exploding your buses, restaurants, hotels and malls. what would you do? will you do nothing?
Its easy to take each side in this struggle and be subjective towards the other side.
Have no mistake, Israel also makes mistakes. I feel true pain when kids dieing in Gaza, and homes are ruined for nothing.
there are no winners at this war and the end is not near.
when human beings will understand that before religion they need to put respect, piece, and kindness, our humanity will suffer.

When I see what Israel soldiers do, I feel shame. Personally, I never could press the trigger if I knew that my missile will targer a crowded area, and when I see the face of these paestinian kids, i can not help viewing this old picture of that terrorized jewish kid in the ghetto of varsovy, raising his arms with german soldiers laughing in his back.
I do not support Hamas neither, but I feel that palestinian have no other choice than that.
Once more, israeli should remember the insurrection of the varsaw ghetto. In the end, people put gasoline on them and ran towards tanks. They knew that they would be killed anyway, so better die while trying to kill enemies. Don't you feel that, from a palestinian viewpoint, the Hamas is pretty similar?

His kingdom is not in this world, he proved that when He offered his body as a ransom for the sins and raised from the dead and went back to his kingdom. This God offered forgiveness. the main problem is, we human cannot accept the fact that this God offered forgiveness to us through Jesus. as an offering for our sins!
and to humble down ourselves to Jesus is very hard; there are some people also that claims to be followers of Jesus yet didn't truly humble down themselves to him. why? because we are blinded by our wicked desires, by our selfishness, and hatred.
the followers of the real Jesus, not the one representing by the pope of the romans, didn't fight back against these jews and romans. instead they were sent to prison and killed at the steak in the roman killing arena, where the blood of martyr's of Jesus are their entertainment.
they didn't fight back because they knew that the real kingdom is not here in this world. this earth is just a temporary place and there is a place prepared by God for those who believe in the name of His Son Jesus.
the solution to these problem was provided by God 2000 years ago. he didn't left us. we are the one who left Him, rejected Him, despised Him, mocked Him bcoz we think that the humbleness he did on the cross was just a mere weak thing. wrong, God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. Jesus, God himself, humbled himself, naked in front of his creation. did not count equality with God.
so let us humble ourselves before God and believe that we cannot save ourselves and God did provide the offering for our sins for us to live a new holy life and be with Him...

The point is the palestinians are the underdogs. The western media only reports one side of the story and it is completely unfair. Israel CREATED Hamas, by their unfair policies--forcing the palestinians to live like confined animals, forcing them to go through checkpoints, killing their children and stripping them of their humility. Hamas is in response to Israel's evil. There is a heartbreaking desperation about a child who is unafraid to throw rocks at an opponent who carries a gun. The palestinian people have a human right to defend themselves, and any human being in their situation would do the same. What are they supposed to do just accept their conditions? Just lie down and deal with their situation? Anyone of us would become desperate and not care about our own selves when everything around us is being taken away--our family, friends, homes, water, food, all human needs. The number of palestinians dead versus israel tells the truth--it is unfair and completely evil what Israel is doing, and those who support Israel are likewise. Zionism, is not true Judaism, and it's foundation is ungodly and completely goes against the Torah. Only something that is ungodly can commit such atrocities.

Posted: Feb 06 2009, 11:10Report Abuseim a united states citizen who lives in texas, i have no ethnic affiliation to the middle east in any way shape or form. i watched last month (january) live via a webcam set up in gaza city as israeli helicopters fired rockets at apartment buildings, and as israeli artillery dropped white phospherous on civillians, i know they were civillians because i could hear children screaming and crying. they essentially would relight the fire every time the palestinians would put it out. im not sure if i find it disturbing simply because of what it is, or because my tax dollars support it. the f-16s i saw fly by and drop bombs were built in a factory not to far from my home, and i know some of the people who built them. i even worked for a subcontractor that made the air intake stencils for the ah-1 cobra gunships the israelis were using to fire rockets at civillians. and their blood is on the hands of every american and british citizen, for not only refusing to stop this, but offering military and monitary aid to this racist and totalitarian country.

The plan offered over 55% of Palestine to the immigrant Jewish people, and 45% to the indigenous Palestinian population. The following year the new breed of 'fighting Jew' (Ben-Gurion's term - not mine) took 78% and named it Israel.
However - Sderot (where many a photo opportunity takes place for visiting foreign diplomats), Ashkelon, Ashdod and even Be'ersheba all lie in the area of the Partition map earmarked for the creation of the Palestinian State. And as such, until such time Israel comes to the negotiating table, they lie within occupied Palestinian territory, not sovereign Southern Israel.

If you Palestinians are so brave as you all say, why don't you all go thru Israel and fight all of you one for all? Why I only see in the videos a few people fighting and the most of them just watching? I think only a few palestinians are fighting and all the rest are talking, lol. If you were brave you would go to war.

Before the year 1948 there is NO state called Israel.The whole land belongs to Palestinians and they are Arabs.The Masjidil Aqsa belongs to the Muslims all over the world.It was the first direction of prayer of the Muslims.The British planted Israel in Palestine and they declared Israel as a state in 1948 and they bring all the Jews from all over the world to Israel.So all Israel actually belongs to Palestinians.

Others support them, eventhough they know that the land does not belong to them. If some Jews bought land from the Palestinian farmers, it did not mean that they had purchased the whole Palestine, since noone can sell his land and go and live somewhere else. Last year t i was in palestine, and i never felt hostile or danger when i got out on the streets. But when you speak to people and they tell about their lives, then you get shocked. You all must see the documantary that called The iron wall. You wil see more images and get good informed about wats really happening their. It is just steeling and murdering of people. I have nothing against Jews, Christians or Muslims but we must keep realistic. If there is someone with comments please say it so we can argue
